As a print shop here in Hackensack we know a thing or two about the kind of questions that our customers might have when it comes to their upcoming printing project, because of that, we thought that we might make it a little easier on your by answering some of the most common digital printing and offset printing questions that people ask.
In today’s blog post we will be discussing some of the more common printing questions that people have when they begin their projects, but that being said, if you have a question that we do not cover in today’s post please don’t hesitate to contact us!
Q: How Can I Get An Estimate For My Next Project?
A: We get it, you might know what it costs to have 4 reams of paper copied in black and white, but you probably don’t know the cost of large format printing off of the top of your head — and that is normal, as most people don’t find themselves printing unconventional large posters and banners on a day-to-day basis. Regardless of the project that you have in mind, to receive an estimate you simply have to contact us or stop by our print shop and speak to one of our experienced printing and copying professionals.
Q: What Is The Best File Format To Submit To Our Team?
A: All the shops have their favorite file types, and we aren’t saying that if they don’t agree with us that they are wrong, but they are wrong. For documents, the most efficient format is that of the PDF — all that we ask is that you leave them with a ⅛” bleed so that the entirety of the document may be printed. As far as art, and other graphic images, we accept files from Adobe InDesign, QuarkXPress, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and other documents that are set up in a page layout program. If you are unsure of the specifications of your filetype, simply stop by or give us a call and our talented Hackensack print shop employees can help you out.
Q: Will What I See On My Computer Match What you Print for Me?
A: Our goal is to provide you with a finished product, whether it be via digital printing or offset printing, that you can be proud of. In fact, printing technologies have become much more advanced in recent years, meaning that we can pretty accurately match your original document to the finished product. That being said, optimal clarity and color cannot always be guaranteed. If you are worried about the quality of your finished product, consult one of our team members and they will be happy to help you determine how to print the clearest image.
Q: What Does Color Separation Mean? And Why Are Print Shops Always Talking About It?
A: Color separation is an extremely important aspect of printing, being why you have probably heard the term thrown around a bit. Essentially, color separation is the process of separating any graphic into its primary colors so that we can more efficiently print it! You may have heard the term CMYK? This directly refers to the four basic printing inks that are used in digital printing (cyan, magenta, yellow, and black). Once we have separated the colors we can more accurately set the printer to blend the primary colors in a clear and vibrant way!
